 We all miss Sam… but no one misses him as much as Tammy, which is why we were all so thrilled to see that this little guy was able to squeeze his way into her heart… and boy did he!  Stewey is special and believe me he knows it.  He adapts to any situation because he has clearly decided that the world is here to accomodate him.  He comes to work with Tammy most days, so drop on by and say hello…he’s pretty cute!

We just got two new kittens this week!  Both are doing great except for a slightly inconvenient case of ringworm… They’re being treated now and should be ready for adoption in a couple of weeks.

She's a little more shy that her brother, but equally cute!

If you’re interested in adopting either of these kittens, let us know!  The plan is to spay and neuter them before they leave, and give them their first set of shots… provided they’re old enough before someone runs off with them!

From time to time a kitten or two will cross our path… our most recent arrival is “Bo”.  He’s a rambunctious 8-week-old bundle of love that enjoys chasing tails and sporting baby T-shirts!  If you’re interested in adopting him, feel free to drop by and visit during our office hours.  We charge $90 which includes his Feline Leukemia/FIV test, all vaccines, neutering, and…of course… his favorite T-shirt!

 Our Christmas party this year was a trip to Out of Africa in Cottonwood.  I think the staff was jealous of Dr. Allen’s trip to Tanzania and wanted to get a taste of the Safari… Obviously it wasn’t the same, but there were some definite perks to this trip.  Once the staff learned we were from a veterinary hospital they enlisted our help with a tiger that had an eye problem which gave us the opportunity to get way closer than on the real safari!

Not everyone gets to get this close...but we did!

 The tigers weren’t the only animals we were able to get close to… This hungry giraffe was a little more excited about getting fed than I think Kara was about feeding him!

Dr. Allen spent three weeks this summer volunteering with an HIV positive woman’s group in Tanzania.  The group is called Jipe Moya, and she spent most of her days teaching English and visiting HIV positive people too weak to leave their homes.  She also helped advise the group with their small business…raising chickens for meat…kind-of ironic for a vegetarian!  Even though the weeks were spent working, she was able to get away on two on the weekends.  The first was spent on a safari and the second climbing a 15,000 foot peak!

The first week's class was full of children because they were on break from their regular school. Unlike the US, African kids think its a privilage to be able to go to school!
